I’ve been doing lots of repair jobs recently. Here’s another example – a Barrett Alley wallet in need of some new thread.

I decided that it needed to be taken apart and all the visible stitching re-sewn as neatly as possible.

I love seeing how other makers work. An example is the little cutout on the pockets to reduce bulk. Genius. I may have to try this on my wallets in the future.

The horween leather (horse skin) is amazing. It’s so firm and soft and shiny and smooth. Now it’s ready for another 10 years, at least.

This wallet was originally made by renowned leather worker Barrett Alley who, unfortunately, I can’t find any recent work of his on the internet, so assume he’s no longer working in leather…? Anyone know anything about this?
I assume the “398” number inscribed inside the wallet is Barrett’s 398th wallet he made. What a cool idea!
