A strange name for these little portable seats. I was asked to replace the worn and torn canvas for leather, which were needed in time for the Cartmel Races last weekend.
Such a simple design and very effective, shooting sticks come in different shapes and sizes. These two are made from aluminium so they’re light-weight enough to carry. They open out into a surprisingly comfortable seat. I’m tempted to look out for one for myself!
I used veg-tanned UK cowhide, and hand-stitched them in place. This sturdy leather (2-3mm thick), which I treated with oils and waxes, should last many years to come.
