The annual Witherslack Artists and Makers Exhibition opens tomorrow at the Old Schoolroom (Barwick Hall) next to St Paul’s Church in Witherslack, South Cumbria. It is always a highlight of the season, bringing together an inspiring collection of fine art and handmade crafts, set against the stunning backdrop of the Lake District fells.

What to Expect
The exhibition features our core group of 12 permanent members alongside a curated selection of guest artists specially invited to showcase their work this year.
Permanent Members
Our group of 12 local artists and craftspeople brings together a rich variety of creative disciplines:
- Wood & Basketry: Traditional Oak swill basketry by Owen Jones, intricately made wooden chairs by Paul Girling, and woven willow structures by Jane Bradley.
- Ceramics & Glass: Wheel-thrown ceramics by Rebecca Callis, Alvin F. Irving and Hans Ulrich, and vibrant, light-capturing glasswork by Jo Vincent and Jacqueline Dobson.
- Painting & Printmaking: Fine art capturing landscapes, wildlife, and natural form by Fiona Clucas and Ian Parker.
- Stone & Leather: Letter carving and stone sculpture by Pip Hall, traditional leatherwork by Tony Morgan.
Guest Artists
We are thrilled to welcome our invited guest artists, bringing fresh perspectives and varied mediums:
- Stuart Wilkie: Sedbergh-based artist and printmaker known for capturing light and atmosphere.
- Peter Monaghan: Lake District fine artist producing contemporary realist paintings in oil and pastel.
- Eva Ullrich: Painter exploring landscape through abstract, emotion-driven color relationships.
- Alayne Robin: Handweaver creating beautifully textured woven textiles.
- Sue Gilmartin:Textile artist crafting unique pieces from rag rugs and recycled fabrics.
- Tony Winstanley: Precision craftsperson creating exquisite handmade wooden boxes.
